The Los Angeles Chargers have re-signed wide receiver Mike Williams on a one-year deal worth up to $6 million, according to a source familiar with the contract. This move reunites Williams with his previous team, where he had previously played from 2017 to 2023.
Williams, an eight-year veteran, has seen his career take several turns in recent years. After joining the Chargers as the seventh overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, he split last season between the New York Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers. In 2021, Williams had a standout season with the Chargers, catching 76 passes for a career-best 1,146 yards and nine touchdowns over 16 games.
The Chargers originally signed Williams to a three-year extension worth $60 million in the next off-season, but restructured the deal before his release prior to the 2024-25 campaign. He subsequently signed with the Jets on a one-year contract worth $10 million, which was later traded to the Steelers. With this new deal, Williams is set to return to Los Angeles and hopes to make an impact for the team once again.
