Apple’s latest Mac Studio, powered by M4 Max and M3 Ultra processors, is now available in the market. In line with its launch, Apple has updated a support document detailing which power modes the new device supports. Surprisingly, the Mac Studio only offers Low Power Mode, but not High Power Mode.
Reviews have confirmed that the Mac Studio is the most powerful Mac Apple has ever produced, offering impressive performance regardless of the chosen configuration. However, if you’re looking to limit its power consumption, Low Power Mode comes into play. This feature reduces fan noise for silent environments and allows reduced power consumption when the device is left on.
The curious absence of High Power Mode, which allows fans to run at higher speeds for intense workloads, has raised questions among users. Although Apple describes the feature as a way to deliver higher performance in extreme conditions, it’s not available on the Mac Studio.
Experts speculate that enabling High Power Mode might require additional software updates, which could arrive in the future. Despite this, the omission of High Power Mode seems peculiar given its tailored nature for the Mac Studio.
What do you think about Apple’s decision to support Low Power Mode but not High Power Mode? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
