Catherine Welcomes Qatar Emir Amid Palace Activity

Catherine, Princess of Wales, has marked her return to royal duties by welcoming the Emir of Qatar on the first day of his state visit to the UK. The princess joined her husband, Prince William, to meet Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani and his wife Sheikha Jawaher at Buckingham Palace.

Due to a lingering chest infection, Queen Camilla was absent from the start of proceedings. However, she greeted the Qatari royals upon their arrival and will participate in events throughout her visit. The emir’s schedule includes a visit to the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst on Wednesday, as well as a bilateral meeting with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street.

This event represents Catherine’s biggest return to royal duties since undergoing chemotherapy treatment earlier this year. Her recovery has been closely monitored, and her appearance at the palace is seen as a significant milestone in her recovery journey. The princess had previously made public appearances after finishing her treatment, including a visit to Southport, northwest England, with Prince William.

The Queen’s recent health issues have led to adjustments in her schedule, including modifications to her participation in events. Her medical team will continue to monitor her symptoms, and any further changes will be made as needed.
