Scottie Scheffler Struggles Despite Strong Start at Players Championship

Scottie Scheffler posted two rounds under par to start the week at TPC Sawgrass, but his frustration grew as he watched himself miss easy putts and struggle with his game. The former champion is six shots back of the lead after 36 holes.

Scheffler expressed his disappointment after missing a 14-foot putt on Friday’s fourth hole, which would have secured him par. He also hit a tough lie on No. 7, but managed to recover for a crucial par save. Despite having five birdies, he was visibly frustrated throughout the day.

However, Scheffler remained focused and acknowledged that the course will become much tougher with severe winds expected to start on Saturday. “You can’t really play the ball on the ground here,” he said of playing in strong winds, which require more control over spin and airbourne shots.

Scheffler is aware that he can’t rely on past performances, but his experience may help him navigate the challenges ahead. The question remains whether he can regain his form and challenge for the title.
