HBO Max has confirmed several release dates for its upcoming shows, including Season 3 of Mike White’s The White Lotus, which will premiere in February next year. The new season will feature Walton Goggins, Carrie Coon, Leslie Bibb, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Blackpink’s Lisa, and Natasha Rothwell.
According to JB Perrette, CEO and President of Global Streaming for HBO/Max parent Warner Bros. Discovery, the third season of Euphoria is currently targeting a 2026 return. Filming on the new season won’t begin until early 2025, which explains the delay.
The Last of Us Season 2 is now set to premiere in Q2 2025, according to Perrette. This follows a slight adjustment to the original release date, which was initially announced for Spring 2025.
Perrette also shared that a new Game of Thrones series will be released this summer, although no specific details have been revealed yet.
Additionally, HBO/Max is working on an animated series based on DC Comics called Creature Commandos, with James Gunn set to produce it. The streaming service plans to release at least two DC shows per year, rather than four or five.
HBO Max’s content lineup has sparked some debate among fans, particularly regarding the show Euphoria. Perrette downplayed concerns about the show losing momentum, stating that its creators will “prove” themselves if they can match the quality of The Sopranos or outdo Game of Thrones in terms of special effects.
Note: A more accurate statement by JB Perrette is that “you don’t need 4, you don’t need 5” and there’s no such rule in place for shows with a gap between seasons.
