Samsung is reportedly planning to introduce variable aperture on its upcoming flagship phone, the Galaxy S26 Ultra. According to tipster Ice Universe, the device will feature this camera technology only on its primary rear camera.
Variable aperture allows for more control over the amount of light entering the camera sensor, resulting in better low-light performance and reduced noise. This feature is already available on some high-end flagships from Huawei and Xiaomi, but Samsung was among the first to introduce dual-aperture with its Galaxy S9 series.
It’s unclear if the new variable aperture will have multiple settings or just two, like the one found on Xiaomi’s 14 Ultra. However, Samsung may stick to its familiar dual-aperture approach seen in previous models.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is expected to boast improved camera capabilities, including a higher resolution for the telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. Additionally, the device will feature a more power-efficient display and a Silicon Carbon battery with up to 5,500mAh capacity.
