Supplements Improve Memory in Aging Brain

A recent study on twins over 60 found that taking daily protein and prebiotic supplements can improve memory scores. Researchers at King’s College London enrolled 36 pairs of twins, who were randomly assigned to take either a prebiotic or a placebo. The results showed that the twin taking inulin or FOS scored higher on cognitive tests three months later. The study suggests that consuming certain “brain foods” like inulin and FOS may be a promising way to treat cognitive decline. While there are no significant physical benefits, the researchers believe that these supplements could benefit a wide group of people, particularly in cash-strapped times. Further studies are needed to confirm the effects and explore their potential for treating various illnesses and diseases.
