Delta Woman Refused Entry to US After Claiming Asylum in France

A Russian national who did not have valid travel documents to enter France was removed from a Delta Airlines international flight at Paris airport. The woman, a 57-year-old legal resident of the United States, was scheduled to fly to New York on Saturday but was removed by French authorities after screaming and claiming asylum in France.

French officials say she did not have a valid visa or documents to enter France, where she had previously applied for asylum. She was taken off the flight and put back into police custody, with plans to be sent back to the United States with a French escort.

The incident occurred at Charles de Gaulle Airport, where the woman got past multiple security checkpoints at New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and boarded a plane to Paris last week. Delta Flight 264 took off from JFK Airport and landed at Charles de Gaulle Airport with the stowaway on board.

Witnesses reported that the woman was unruly during the flight, claiming she did not want to return to the United States and mentioned the Geneva Conventions. Inspectors from the Transportation Security Administration are preparing a civil case against her after reviewing airport security video from inside John F. Kennedy International Airport.

Delta has launched an investigation into how the woman breached multiple security checkpoints at JFK Airport and slipped onto the plane without a boarding pass. The incident highlights concerns about airport security and the challenges of identifying individuals who may pose a risk to public safety.
