The FIA Formula 2 Feature Race scheduled for today in Melbourne has been cancelled due to adverse weather conditions. The race was initially red-flagged and then attempted to start, but the heavy rain continued, making it impossible to proceed.
With no racing laps completed, points will not be awarded, although ART Grand Prix driver Victor Martins received two points for starting from pole position.
FIA Formula 2 CEO Bruno Michel expressed sympathy for fans who were looking forward to the event and for the teams and drivers who traveled to Melbourne. However, safety remained the top priority, as the track conditions became too hazardous, as confirmed by the drivers over the radio.
The focus now shifts to the upcoming event in Bahrain, which is scheduled for April 11-13.
