HHS Secretary RFK Jr. Advocates for Natural Ingredients in Food

Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. visited a Steak ‘n Shake in Florida over the weekend, where he met with Fox News host Sean Hannity. The visit came days after the company announced it would start cooking its iconic shoestring fries in 100% all-natural beef tallow.

Kennedy praised Steak ‘n Shake for making the switch from vegetable oil to beef tallow, saying it’s a healthier alternative to seed oils often found in processed foods. As an advocate for natural ingredients, he believes consumers deserve access to the best options and wants companies to be transparent about their ingredients.

The former presidential candidate has been vocal about the health risks of ultra-processed foods and the need for radical transparency in the food industry. He met with CEOs from major food companies to discuss ways to advance food safety and consumer trust, emphasizing the importance of informed choice and access to healthy options.

Kennedy also highlighted the growing obesity epidemic in the US, citing that nearly 40% of adults are obese. He pointed to studies showing a link between mental health issues like anxiety and depression and diet, suggesting that changing one’s diet can help alleviate some diagnoses. The secretary stressed the need to address this issue, as it affects not only individual health but also financial burden on healthcare costs.

Kennedy Jr.’s advocacy for natural ingredients in food is part of his broader effort to promote healthier eating habits and make America a healthier nation.
