Israel has carried out a drone attack on Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza, killing at least nine people, including three journalists and Palestinian civilians. The attack targeted a relief team that was accompanying journalists and photographers.
The Palestinian Journalists’ Protection Center condemned the attack, stating that the journalists were documenting humanitarian relief efforts for those affected by Israel’s conflict in Gaza. The center called on Gaza ceasefire mediators to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to implement the agreed truce and prisoner exchange.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health has reported at least 48,543 Palestinians killed and 111,981 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza. The Israeli military claimed that it struck two terrorists operating a drone that posed a threat to its soldiers.
However, rights organizations have accused Israel of crimes against humanity and violations of international law for cutting off aid to Gaza. Israel has also reduced access to water supplies, threatening the potable water supply in the enclave.
Ceasefire talks between Israel, Hamas, and the US are currently stalled due to disagreements over prisoner exchanges and the end of the war. The negotiations appear to be in limbo as each party remains firmly standing their ground.
