The third annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, honoring creativity and innovation in children’s entertainment, took place on Saturday night in Los Angeles. Meryl Streep and Christian Slater were among the top winners.
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) presented awards to recognize television shows that serve young viewers and their families creatively. The event included a Lifetime Achievement Award for Emmy-winning performer Fran Brill.
Some notable winners include “Marvel’s Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur” in the children’s or young teen animated series category, “Orion and the Dark” as an animated special, and “The Velveteen Rabbit” in the fiction special category.
Other notable awards went to “Elmo and Jesse Remember Uncle Jack,” “Kizazi Moto: Generation Fire,” and “La Fuerza-STEM: Engaging Hispanic Families in Science Through Culturally Relevant Media.”
