Apple is reportedly revamping its iPhone 17 series with significant changes across the range. The super-slim model, nicknamed the iPhone 17 Air, will feature a new design, but details about other models are less clear.
According to reports, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max may ditch their stainless steel and titanium frames in favor of aluminum, marking a departure from previous years. However, the change has raised eyebrows due to the absence of stainless steel iPhones in current lineups.
The most notable design changes will occur on the Pro models’ back. A new part-aluminum, part-glass design is expected, with a larger rectangular camera bump made of aluminum. The bottom half of the device will retain glass for wireless charging purposes.
Industry experts are skeptical about Apple’s design decisions, citing concerns over achieving seamless integration between two different materials. However, the company’s design evolution has been marked by significant changes in recent years. As one technology veteran notes, it remains to be seen how these design choices will play out.
