Google Cloud Introduces Veo and Imagen 3 for AI-Driven Video Generation

Google Cloud has launched two new AI-powered tools on its Vertex AI platform: Veo, a video generation model, and Imagen 3, an advanced image generation tool. Veo allows businesses to create realistic videos from text or image prompts, reducing production time and costs.

Imagen 3 offers photorealistic image generation with improved detail and reduced visual artifacts. The tool incorporates editing tools and customization options, enabling businesses to align output with brand requirements.

Companies like Mondelez International and WPP are leveraging these models to accelerate content creation. Agoda is experimenting with Veo and Imagen 3 to develop customized visuals for promotions.

Developed by Google DeepMind, Veo includes safety features such as digital watermarking, safety filters, and data governance measures. The tool will be available in private preview soon, followed by a general launch.

Google Cloud’s introduction of these tools puts the hyperscaler at odds with competitors like OpenAI and Meta. While Sora, an open-source text-to-video model, recently gained popularity after its API leak, it remains unofficially released by OpenAI. Other models, such as Runway, Pika Midjourney, KlingAI, and Meta’s Movie Gen, have also emerged in the market, competing with Veo and Imagen 3 for creators’ attention.
