Apple has released its new MacBook Air laptops, featuring the M4 chip and several upgrades that may appeal to remote workers and office users. The company claims the M4 delivers “23x faster performance” in some cases compared to older Intel chips, but this may not translate to significant speed improvements for everyday tasks like web browsing, photo editing, and word processing.
In normal use, I’ve found minimal differences between the new 15-inch M4 MacBook Air and my previous M3 model. However, the laptop does feature a faster GPU option (10-core vs 8-core), which may be beneficial for graphics-intensive apps.
Beyond the chip upgrade, the M4 MacBook Air boasts two notable features that remote workers and office users will appreciate: improved storage and increased base RAM options. The laptops are available with up to 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage, making them more suitable for heavy users.
