Google is phasing out its Assistant tool and migrating users to its AI-powered Gemini. The company announced the move in a blog post, stating that more mobile device users will be upgraded to Gemini over the coming months. Users with newer phones and updated software will be primarily affected.
However, older Android devices with limited RAM (less than 2 GB) will still retain the classic Google Assistant. The shift is part of Google’s efforts to promote Gemini, which was recently introduced in search apps and other platforms.
The upgrade will also extend to tablets, cars, headphones, watches, smart speakers, displays, and TVs. These devices will receive a new experience powered by Gemini. Although details are scarce, the transition is expected to happen over the next few months, with Google Assistant remaining operational on affected devices until then.
