Measles Cases Reported in Oklahoma After Texas and New Mexico Outbreak

Two new probable measles cases have been reported by the Oklahoma State Department of Health (OSDH). The latest cases are linked to a recent outbreak in Texas and New Mexico. The OSDH has identified several public settings where potential exposure occurred, including Kohl’s, Aldi, Walmart Supercenter, Sam’s Club, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Lowe’s Home Improvement.

Anyone who visited these locations during the specified timeframe and is not vaccinated or unsure about their vaccine status should provide their name and contact information to OSDH or Tulsa Health Department for potential contact. If you’re experiencing flu-like symptoms, fever, and a new rash after visiting one of these places, seek medical attention immediately.

Measles is contagious four days before the rash appears and four days after it starts. All four reported cases are among unvaccinated individuals. The OSDH urges everyone to get vaccinated to protect themselves from measles.
