Former talk show host Wendy Williams was taken to the hospital on Monday after dropping a distressing note from her window at an assisted living facility where she has been living under a court-appointed guardianship since 2022.
Williams, 60, claims to be “cognitively impaired” and says she’s being held against her will in a facility with strict rules. She alleges that elevators are locked, visitors are restricted, and she’s unaware of the medications administered to her.
The 60-year-old has been in an ongoing battle to end her conservatorship with guardian Sabrina Morrissey, who claims Williams is permanently disabled. However, Williams says she feels like she’s “in prison” and longs for freedom.
In recent months, Williams has spoken out about her situation on various radio shows, including The Breakfast Club, where she expressed frustration and distress. She also appeared in a documentary, TMZ Presents: Saving Wendy Williams, which reveals that she hasn’t seen a medical professional since her 2023 dementia diagnosis.
The New York Police Department confirmed that authorities responded to the facility for a welfare check after receiving reports of concerns about Williams’ well-being. She was taken to the hospital for evaluation and transported in an ambulance.
