Compass Eyes Acquisition of Warren Buffett’s Real Estate Unit

Compass, a leading US real estate brokerage, is in advanced talks to acquire Warren Buffett’s real estate business, according to the Wall Street Journal. The acquisition price has not been disclosed, but a deal could be finalized soon if negotiations proceed smoothly.

Compass operates in 35 states and has over 33,000 agents, making it one of the largest US real estate brokerages by sales volume. This move comes as other major players, such as Rocket Companies, which recently acquired Redfin for $1.75 billion, are looking to boost their lending businesses.

HomeServices of America, a rival brokerage, has been struggling with rising costs due to legal settlements over commission disputes. Compass’s acquisition of Warren Buffett’s unit could potentially help it gain an edge in the market. However, both companies declined to comment on the matter.
