A recall has been issued for over 75,000 bottles of International Delight coffee creamer due to concerns over spoilage and potential illness. The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has upgraded the recall to a Class II level, indicating that using or being exposed to the product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences.
The affected products are two specific flavors: 32-ounce bottles of Hazelnut creamer and 32-ounce bottles of Cinnabon Classic Cinnamon Roll. The recall only applies to bottles with a producing plant code of 51-4114 R-S, which have expiration dates of July 2, 2025, and July 3, 2025.
Thirty-one states received shipments of the creamer bottles, including Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
Danone North America, the parent company of International Delight coffee creamer, has stated that the recall is due to premature spoilage manifesting as a texture issue. Testing data confirms that this is not a food safety issue, but rather an isolated quality concern. The company chose to voluntarily recall the products out of abundance of caution while addressing the quality issue.
This recall follows another recent food product recall involving a popular lemonade brand. Oak Cliff Beverage Works issued a voluntary recall of its Beverage Base Lemonade due to an undeclared presence of a synthetic food dye, Yellow 5, which has been linked to an increased cancer risk.
