SpaceX successfully deployed its latest batch of 23 Starlink Version 2 Mini satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at sunrise on Saturday morning. The mission marked a record-breaking turnaround time for launch operations, beating the previous record by nearly six hours.
The Starlink 12-16 mission added to the constellation of over 7,000 satellites in low Earth orbit, bringing the total number of Starlink satellites to more than 30,000. Liftoff occurred at 7:35 a.m. EDT (1135 UTC), with the Falcon 9 first stage booster, B1078, launching for its 18th time.
The booster landed safely on the droneship “Just Read the Instructions” just over eight minutes after liftoff, marking the 112th successful landing on JRTI and the 419th overall. Among the satellites launched were 13 with direct-to-cell capabilities.
