Cooper Flagg Expected to Play in NCAA Tournament Despite Injury

Duke star Cooper Flagg, who suffered an ankle injury during the ACC tournament opener on Thursday, is expected to be available for the NCAA tournament, according to Dan Gavitt, senior vice president of men’s basketball.

Flagg, the projected No. 1 pick in the 2025 NBA draft and a favorite to win the Wooden Award, fell awkwardly on his left ankle during the game but underwent negative X-rays. He was ruled out of Friday’s game against North Carolina due to injury.

Coach Jon Scheyer confirmed that Flagg will not play in the ACC title game but said his goal is to have him ready for the NCAA tournament. The Blue Devils are working to get Flagg treated and monitored before the NCAA event.

Maliq Brown, another key player on Duke’s roster, suffered a shoulder injury during the tournament that may affect his availability for the NCAA tournament. Scheyer said Brown’s injury could keep him out for an extended period.
