A 42-year-old man named Michael Lewis was arrested after drawing a swastika symbol on the owner of his Cybertruck, Avi Ben Hamo, in front of a New York Post reporter and photographer. However, the suspect is Jewish himself, adding to the surprise.
According to authorities, Lewis was suspected of aggravated harassment and later released from custody without facing charges because no damage was done to the vehicle. His attorney stated that Lewis had been dealing with personal issues at the time and this incident was out of character for him.
The drawing of a swastika on Ben Hamo’s Cybertruck is particularly disturbing, given the hate symbol’s association with Nazi ideology. Ben Hamo expressed shock and disapproval, saying he couldn’t fathom someone using such a symbol to express their grievances against Elon Musk or his company Tesla.
This incident comes as part of ongoing protests against Tesla and its founder, Elon Musk, who has been working with President Donald Trump’s administration on the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Other Tesla locations have faced damage and disruptions, including an Oregon dealership being shot up and several charging stations set on fire in Massachusetts.
