2025 NCAA Tournament Snubs: Who Got Left Behind?

The 2025 NCAA tournament bracket was revealed on Selection Sunday, leaving many teams stunned after being snubbed for a spot in the field of 68. Here are five of the biggest snubs this year.

North Carolina’s selection was perhaps the most surprising, given its mediocre Quadrant 1 record and only one win against a projected tournament team. The Tar Heels’ strong strength of schedule and top-40 metrics earned them an at-large bid, but it may not have been enough to secure their spot.

West Virginia’s omission is particularly puzzling, considering the Mountaineers defeated Gonzaga and Arizona in November. However, West Virginia struggled with inconsistency, going .500 during the second half of the season and failing to beat a single NCAA tournament-caliber team during that stretch.

Indiana Hoosiers coach Mike Woodson stepped down mid-season, but his team still managed impressive wins over Michigan State and Ohio State. Despite this, their low predictive metrics and limited Quadrant 1 victories left them out of the tournament.

Boise State had a strong case for an NCAA bid, winning 14 games in conference play and advancing to the title game of the Mountain West tournament. However, the committee seemed swayed by its loss to Boston College in the Cayman Islands Classic, which may have been a crucial factor in their decision.

Lastly, Ohio State’s underwhelming performance throughout the Big Ten tournament sealed its fate outside the NCAA bracket. Despite boasting six Quadrant 1 wins and top-notch victories over Kentucky and Maryland, the Buckeyes failed to secure an at-large bid due to their subpar overall record and struggles with consistency.
