Former Call of Duty studio head Jason Blundell has confirmed the existence of his new PlayStation first-party studio, Dark Outlaw Games, amid a major shake-up at Sony’s gaming division. Blundell left Call of Duty developer Treyarch in 2020 and co-founded Deviation Games with Sony support, but the studio shut down last March after a difficult situation resulted in almost 90 layoffs. Now, Blundell is assembling his new team, which includes many former Deviation employees, to work on an undisclosed new IP for PlayStation Studios. With no details on their first project yet, Blundell emphasized that the focus is on developing a great game rather than generating hype around the studio’s existence.
