Alphabet is reportedly close to a deal to acquire cybersecurity startup Wiz for $30 billion, following a previous bid of $23 billion that fell through last summer.
The companies are in advanced talks and could close the deal soon if no last-minute problems arise. If successful, the acquisition would bolster Alphabet’s cloud computing efforts by offering Wiz’s enhanced security features.
Wiz was valued at $12 billion after raising $1 billion in a May funding round. The company had planned to use the new financing to fuel acquisitions and product development.
The deal would be Google’s largest acquisition ever, surpassing its $12.5 billion purchase of Motorola Mobility in 2012.
A cybersecurity firm’s decision to reject a Google bid for $23 billion was reportedly influenced by investor and antitrust concerns. Wiz had previously announced that it reached 100 official integrations with its Wiz Integration platform within the first year after its launch.
