Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George will miss at least six weeks after receiving injections in his left adductor muscle and left knee, the team announced Monday. This setback comes with just four weeks remaining in the regular season, effectively ending George’s campaign.
George, 34, signed with the 76ers last offseason to make a significant impact but has battled through injuries all season, including taking painkillers for five straight games leading up to the All-Star break. He has played his fewest games since the 2021-22 season and will miss less than 60 games in the last six seasons.
Although technically possible, George’s return for the playoffs seems unlikely. The Sixers are currently fifth in the play-in spot, five games behind leaders Chicago Bulls. Even if they reach the tournament and win, their first-round matchup would begin on April 19. Assuming a full recovery, George could be back around April 28, missing crucial games.
George’s stats this season: 16.2 PPG, 5.3 RPG, 4.3 APG, 43.0% FG%, 35.8% 3PT%.
