Apple Prepares for Foldable Device Release in 2026 or 2027

Analyst Jeff Pu has revealed that Apple plans to start producing two foldable devices in April 2026, with mass production targeting the second half of the year. Despite initial shipment expectations being lukewarm for the 2025 iPhone models, Pu believes Apple remains committed to its ambitious plan for foldable releases.

While specific details are scarce, industry sources suggest that the planned devices may be foldable iPhones and iPads. Contrary to earlier predictions, a recent report by Ming-Chi Kuo now places mass production of the foldable iPhone in the second half of 2025, but it’s unclear if this timeline has been adjusted.

Rumors have circulated about Apple’s first foldable device potentially being a tablet rather than an iPhone. However, recent findings suggest that the actual release may be similar to the iPad mini in size. The Information believes that a 2026 release makes more sense, as it would coincide with Apple’s expected expansion of its product lines.

Some analysts point out that a 2027 launch could mark significant milestones for the iPhone brand, including the 20th anniversary of the device and the 10th anniversary of the first iPhone with an OLED panel. Nevertheless, Apple is currently focusing on future iPhone models, leaving investors to wait until more information becomes available.
