Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa Hackman’s deaths have been re-examined with new information that challenges the initial timeline. According to reports, Betsy called a medical concierge service on February 12, which was previously thought to be her death date. The Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed this, stating she sought medical advice for “esoteric treatment” and never showed signs of distress.
The initial cause of death was listed as Hantavirus, but new information suggests Betsy may have been seeking help rather than having died from the virus. The couple’s bodies were found in their home on February 26 with advanced decomposition, and both Gene and Zinna, their dog, also perished under similar circumstances.
Gene Hackman, 95, died around February 18 due to severe heart disease, high blood pressure, and Alzheimer’s disease, while Betsy passed away a few days earlier. The authorities believe foul play was not involved in the deaths, but signs of “rodent entry” were discovered on their property despite low assessed risk.
The revised timeline has raised questions about how the couple died, particularly with Betsy’s reported medical call sparking new inquiries into her cause of death.
