Apple’s highly anticipated iPhone Fold is expected to come with a hefty price tag, according to analyst Tim Long. The device is rumored to feature a high-tech display that allows it to fold in half, making it an expensive proposition for consumers. Barclays estimates the starting price of the iPhone Fold could be around $2,300, although some experts predict prices as low as $1,999.
To put this into perspective, buying a base-spec iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max can save consumers more than $100 compared to the estimated cost of the iPhone Fold. Alternatively, purchasing the top-spec iPhone 16 Pro Max for $1,599 would still leave enough money to buy a 256GB 11-inch M3 iPad Air.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, released earlier this year, starts at $1,899 for 256GB of storage, while Google’s Pixel 9 Pro Fold begins at $1,799. OnePlus’ latest offering, the Open, is priced at $1,699.
These affordable alternatives have left many wondering if Apple can compete with the likes of Samsung and Google on pricing. The pressure on Apple to get the iPhone Fold right will be mounting if it launches with an estimated high price attached.
Analysts predict a release window for the iPhone Fold in late 2026 or early 2027. While these claims are not surprising, they do raise concerns among consumers who were expecting a more affordable option from Apple.
