Jason Blundell Joins PlayStation as New Studio Head

Former Treyarch co-head and Black Ops 3 director Jason Blundell is leading a new first-party PlayStation studio called Dark Outlaw Games. Five years after leaving Treyarch, Blundell has joined Sony as the head of his new operation.

Blundell stated that he’s “thrilled” to be working with Sony, citing it as an opportunity to bring games to audiences and prove himself. He emphasized that the focus should be on the game itself, rather than the studio. Dark Outlaw Games have been keeping a low profile until now, but Blundell revealed that his team is “staffing up” and getting their ideas clicking.

Blundell has an extensive gaming background, starting as a programmer on Starlancer in 2000. He’s best known for his work at Treyarch, including producing Call of Duty 3 and Black Ops, directing the Zombies mode for Black Ops 3, and working on several projects with Deviation Games.

Despite his past experience, Blundell acknowledged that his new venture may not yield immediate success. However, he expressed enthusiasm for taking on new challenges and developing games that excite audiences. With Sony’s backing, Dark Outlaw Games is poised to make a name for itself in the gaming industry.
