Colin Farrell is set to reprise his collaboration with director Luca Guadagnino, who previously teamed up with the actor on “The Penguin” (2022). The Oscar-nominated star will play the title role of Sgt. Franklin John Rock in Guadagnino’s upcoming film adaptation.
As part of DC Studios’ slate, the WWII-set movie is scheduled to be released after other projects, including Guadagnino’s Amazon MGM Studios thriller “After the Hunt” later this year and Gunn’s “Superman” on July 11.
The character Sgt. Rock first debuted in 1959 as a World War II infantry soldier with unique skills, including combat expertise and enhanced durability.
Guadagnino is reteaming with writer Justin Kuritzkes, who collaborated with the director on “Challengers” and “Queer”. The project marks a significant addition to Guadagnino’s busy production schedule, which also includes Guadagnino’s upcoming film adaptation of “American Psycho”.
Farrell takes over the role from Daniel Craig, who had expressed interest in reteaming with Guadagnino.
