Israel Calls Emergency Meeting Over Fears of Hamas Ground Invasion

Israel has convened an emergency meeting at the top security and political levels due to concerns that Hamas may be preparing for a ground invasion. The meeting comes amid high tensions in the region, where Gaza is struggling to rebuild after 15 months of bombardment.

The ceasefire, which put an end to over a year of fighting, has led to the deaths of around 48,000 Palestinians in Gaza. However, the fragile truce has been disrupted by frequent airstrikes by Israeli forces, which have killed at least 10 people, including a child, on Monday.

The Israeli military claimed that the airstrikes were targeting militants plotting attacks, but the move has sparked outrage among Palestinians and their supporters. The Trump administration has also expressed interest in taking over Gaza, with plans to relocate Palestinians from the strip into neighboring countries.

The international community has strongly condemned this plan, with at least 57 Muslim nations rejecting the idea of turning Gaza into a “Riveria of the Middle East”. The situation remains volatile, and Israel’s decision to call an emergency meeting suggests that they are taking the threat of a Hamas ground invasion seriously.
