GM Recalls Over 90K Vehicles Due to Transmission Issue

General Motors is recalling over 90,000 vehicles due to a potential transmission issue that could lead to a crash. The affected vehicles include Cadillac CT4 and CT5 models from 2020-2021, as well as Chevrolet Camaro models from 2020-2022.

The issue involves the transmission control valve, which can cause “harsh shifting” and a temporary lock-up of the wheels in rare cases. This could increase the risk of a crash if the vehicle is not operating correctly while moving.

GM has stated that it prioritizes customer safety and plans to remedy the issue with a software update as soon as possible. The update will detect excess wear and prevent the transmission from shifting into gear until the next key cycle.

Dealers will install the updated software at no charge, and owners of affected vehicles can expect to receive letters in the mail starting April 21. Production models have already been updated with new transmission control software.
