Many Back Pain Treatments Offer Little Relief

A recent study by researchers at the University of New South Wales found that only one in ten common back pain treatments provide significant relief. The team analyzed data from 301 clinical trials on 56 different types of treatment, including prescription drugs and non-invasive therapies like exercise and massage.

According to the research, none of the commonly used opioids or paracetamol significantly reduced lower back pain. In fact, many of these medications may even worsen symptoms in some cases.

The study’s findings suggest that patients should approach back pain treatments with caution and carefully consider their options before seeking relief. While there are some effective treatments available, it is essential to be aware of the limitations and potential side effects of each option.
