A spacecraft carrying four astronauts, including Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams, safely landed on Tuesday evening in the Gulf of America. The Crew Dragon Freedom, returning from a nine-month mission, touched down beneath four parachutes. NASA spokesperson Sandra Jones praised the “breathtaking views” of the calm ocean off Tallahassee, Florida, during the webcast.
As the spacecraft descended, SpaceX engineer Kate Tice noted that touchdown was imminent. “We’re going to stand by for splashdown,” she said. The astronauts will finally be returning home after a journey of 286 days. This marks the end of their long and challenging space adventure.
