General Motors (GM) and Nvidia have announced a strategic collaboration that will utilize Nvidia’s products and artificial intelligence services in GM’s next-generation vehicles, advanced driver-assistance systems, and factories.
The partnership includes building custom AI systems using Nvidia’s compute platforms, including “Omniverse with Cosmos,” to optimize GM’s factory planning and robotics. GM will also use Nvidia’s “Nvidia Drive AGX” for in-vehicle hardware, enabling enhanced safety driving experiences and future advanced driver-assistance systems.
GM has been using Nvidia graphics processing units (GPUs) for training AI models across various areas of its business, including simulation and validation. The company has already tested Nvidia’s Omniverse since 2022, using it to design digital twins of its design centers and processes for virtual vehicle development.
Nvidia’s “Omniverse” platform connects a physical environment with a digital world to optimize processes using a digital twin of a physical environment. It is used by over 20 other automakers, including BMW, Amazon Robotics, and Samsung.
The partnership comes as both companies face increased competition from China and uncertain regulatory changes, such as tariffs. GM’s stock has fallen around 8% in 2025, while Nvidia’s stock has declined about 12% this year.
CEO Mary Barra said the collaboration will help unlock new levels of innovation in vehicle manufacturing and beyond by merging technology with human ingenuity. The deal is part of a broader effort by Nvidia to diversify its automotive business, which includes substantial work in data centers and GPUs.
