Olamide Zaccheaus Joins Bears with Big-League Ambitions

Veteran receiver Olamide Zaccheaus has signed a one-year contract with the Chicago Bears, citing the franchise’s promising future as the main reason for his decision. The 27-year-old joins the team after spending six seasons with the Falcons, Eagles, and Commanders.

Zaccheaus, who stands at 5-8 and weighs 193 pounds, has played in 89 games with 30 starts, catching 149 passes for 1,998 yards and 13 touchdowns. Last season with Washington, he set a career high with 45 receptions for 506 yards and three touchdowns.

Zaccheaus is eager to work under first-year coach Ben Johnson, who coordinated the Lions’ offense that averaged 28.2 points per game over the past three seasons. He praises Johnson’s creative play calls and hardworking team culture, which excites him. The receiver also values his ability to block, believing it will endear him to Bears coaches and teammates.

In joining DJ Moore and Rome Odunze in the receiving corps, Zaccheaus predicts a formidable trio that can push each other to be better. He credits the assimilation process with being smoother due to playing with fellow free agents Drew Dalman and Grady Jarrett in Atlanta.

Zaccheaus’ background as an undrafted free agent from Virginia has helped him remain humble and driven to prove himself at the highest level. With his sights set on achieving big-league success, he is excited to join the Bears and contribute to their future goals.
