The San Francisco 49ers were well-represented at the University of Oregon’s Pro Day on Tuesday. General manager John Lynch attended along with five other personnel members. The Ducks have seven prospects in the top 130 picks of the upcoming NFL Draft, according to NFL mock drafts.
Top-ranked prospects include Derrick Harmon, a defensive tackle; Josh Conerly Jr., an offensive tackle; and Jordan Burch, an edge rusher. Harmon’s production is a concern after playing starter-level snaps for three seasons, while Conerly Jr.’s skills don’t align with the 49ers’ needs.
Burch would fit the 49ers’ profile as a pass rusher and could be selected in the third round. He ran a 4.67 40-yard dash and reached high speeds during his workout. Johnson is a slot receiver who excels at catching screens and returning kicks, while Ferguson has the body type for tight end.
Caldwell would play a rotational nose tackle role, taking away the B-gap. Bassa fits the profile of a 49ers linebacker, converting from safety and running well in his workouts. He’s physically tough and had high tackling stats, making him an intriguing replacement for Dre Greenlaw.
