Declassified records related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy have revealed the Social Security numbers of at least two former congressional staffers. Joseph diGenova, 80, and Christopher Pyle, 86, both had their names, birth dates, birth places, and Social Security numbers unmasked in the released documents.
The National Archives confirmed that these records were ordered by President Donald Trump as part of an executive order to release all remaining records related to the assassination. The records include more than 60,000 pages, many of which have been previously disclosed with redactions. Most of the redactions have now been removed, revealing personal details of over 200 former congressional staffers and others.
It is unclear how many living individuals still have their Social Security numbers included in the released documents. However, a significant number of people born between 1930 and 1952 are affected, putting them in their 70s, 80s, or 90s. The release of these records has raised concerns about identity theft and potential fraud.
The National Archives website hosts the released records under the headline “JFK Assassination Records — 2025 Documents Release.”
