JFK Assassination Documents Released, Sparking Fears Over Personal Info Exposure

The US National Archives and Records Administration released 2,200 unredacted files related to the 1963 assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Tuesday, revealing sensitive personal information including Social Security numbers. The move has sparked concerns among those affected, with some planning to sue the government.

Former Trump campaign lawyer Joseph diGenova was among those whose info was disclosed and plans to take action against the Archives for violating privacy laws. White House officials say they are working to help those affected, offering credit monitoring and planing to issue new Social Security numbers.

The documents reveal personal identification information of over 30 people seeking security clearances in the 1990s to review JFK-related documents. Some researchers believe the release was rushed, despite President Trump’s promise of maximum transparency. The National Archives are now screening the records to identify all affected Social Security numbers and will share them with the Social Security Administration.
