Wisconsin Stuns Montana 85-66 in March Madness Comeback

The University of Wisconsin men’s basketball team made a thrilling comeback to March Madness, defeating the 14th-seeded University of Montana 85-66. The Badgers’ strong performance was largely due to the contributions of backup forward Carter Gilmore, who scored eight points and made key defensive plays in the game.

Gilmore’s 8-0 run with the Badgers gave them their biggest lead of the game, which they maintained until the end. Wisconsin’s coach Greg Gard’s team set aside the bad vibes from its first-round loss last year to James Madison and instead focused on bouncing back against Montana.

The Grizzlies’ leading scorer Money Williams was held in check by Blackwell, who finished with 19 points. Meanwhile, the Badgers shot 55% from the field and relied on a deep roster of talented players to secure their win. Wisconsin’s double-digit scorers included Steven Crowl, John Tonje, Xavier Amos, and Nolan Winter.

The victory marked the Badgers’ first March Madness win in three years and sets them up for a game against BYU, which defeated VCU 80-71. With this win, Wisconsin is one step closer to making the Sweet 16 for the first time in eight years.
