US Envoy Says Hamas Refused Demilitarization Deal

US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated that Hamas rejected an “acceptable deal” to extend the ceasefire in Gaza, placing the blame on the Palestinian militant group. The US stands with Israel and views Hamas as the aggressor. The bridging proposal, presented earlier this month, aimed to extend the ceasefire into April but is now closing fast due to rejection from Hamas.

Witkoff expressed optimism for high-stakes talks between Russia and Ukraine, saying Russian President Vladimir Putin wants peace. He also mentioned that Iran cannot gain access to a nuclear weapon, stating “it cannot happen, and it will not happen.” The US and Iran should engage in diplomacy to find common ground.
