Apple has announced a shake-up in its executive ranks as the company works to revamp its artificial intelligence (AI) strategy and get its long-delayed Siri virtual assistant back on track.
The new plan comes after months of delays, with CEO Tim Cook reportedly becoming dissatisfied with John Giannandrea, the head of AI. Giannandrea will no longer oversee Siri development, instead focusing on AI research and testing initiatives.
Mike Rockwell, creator of Vision Pro, will take over development of next-gen Siri, marking a significant shift in leadership for the company’s virtual assistant. This change aims to improve Siri’s personal context and natural interactions across apps. Apple is expected to inform employees of this new direction in the coming days.
