Sean Brady dominated Leon Edwards at UFC London on Saturday, winning the fight via fourth-round guillotine choke. The victory marked Brady’s 17th win in his 20th professional bout.
In a post-fight press conference, Brady said he knew Edwards was “breaking” when the former welterweight champion started shooting for takedowns. Brady believes Edwards tends to break when faced with a real hard fight and that he made it easy for himself by taking the grappling exchange.
Brady also poked fun at Edwards, saying if they were in Philadelphia, Edwards wouldn’t be able to quit in front of his hometown crowd. The victory puts Brady on track to become the new No. 1-ranked contender at 170 pounds, although he sees himself as a worthy next contender rather than taking a backup role.
The win also cements Brady’s status as one of the top contenders for the welterweight title, with many expecting him to face current champion Belal Muhammad in their rematch. However, Brady will have to wait and see how the UFC rankings unfold before potentially facing Muhammad or other challengers.
