Brett Gardner, former New York Yankees outfielder, announced Sunday that his 14-year-old son Miller has died after falling ill on a family vacation. The team expressed their condolences, stating they are “filled with grief” over the loss of the young boy.
Miller was a beloved member of the family and had followed in his father’s footsteps in playing football. A video from last fall shows him scoring a touchdown while wearing the same jersey number as his father, who played for the Yankees for 14 seasons.
Brett Gardner managed Miller on the baseball field, and manager Aaron Boone described their relationship as “family.” The team will offer support to the grieving family during this difficult time.
