A German-based company, Isar Aerospace, is set to conduct a historic rocket test flight in Norway on March 24. The test will mark the first orbital launch from continental Europe, excluding Russia. Isar Aerospace has developed a 28-meter tall rocket called Spectrum, which will use oxygen and propane as fuel. The company aims to collect extensive data during the uncrewed test flight, which is scheduled to take place at Andøya Space Center in Norway.
The launch, granted permission by the Norwegian Civil Aviation Authority, marks Europe’s growing independence from US market leader in orbital launches. Isar Aerospace plans the test for a specific window between 12:30pm and 3:30pm CET, weather permitting.
