Oklahoma Reports 9 Measles Cases, Majority Unvaccinated

The Oklahoma State Department of Health has issued a situation update on measles cases in the state. As of March 25, there are nine confirmed and two probable cases, all among unvaccinated individuals in northeastern Oklahoma.

Two previously reported probable cases have been upgraded to confirmed, with symptoms consistent with standard measles definition and confirmatory test results. However, the probable cases lack these results or a lab-confirmed case.

An investigation found no public exposure as the cause of the cases. The OSDH collaborates with the Cherokee Nation, healthcare community, and Tulsa Health Department on the ongoing cases.

Measles is an immediately notifiable disease in Oklahoma, requiring healthcare providers, laboratories, and hospitals to report suspected or confirmed cases to the OSDH at 405-426-8710.
