Game Informer, the beloved gaming publication, has made a triumphant return to the scene after a six-month hiatus. The entire editorial team is reuniting under new ownership, which secured the rights to revive the brand from its previous owner, GameStop.
Gunzilla Games, a game developer and publisher behind the free-to-play extraction battle royale game Off the Grid, has taken over the reins. The company’s chief creative officer and co-founder, Neill Blomkamp, director of District 9 and Chappie, is part of the new team.
Game Informer’s Editor-in-Chief, Matt Miller, shared in a letter that the new owners insisted on maintaining the publication’s independence, allowing the editorial group to make 100% of the decisions around content coverage. This move will ensure that Game Informer remains an unbiased outlet, untainted by external influences.
The revamped entity, Game Informer Inc., has already restored its website, which boasts over 30 years of history. The team has published dozens of new reviews for games released during their hiatus and is ready to unveil its Best of 2024 awards.
In addition to the website revival, a print magazine will also be reinstated at a later date, with Miller aiming to create a “bigger and better” edition than before. New membership and subscription benefits will be introduced, along with expanded video, streaming, and feature coverage.
Game Informer enthusiasts can now sign up for a new account to stay updated on the website’s latest developments and enjoy exclusive perks, including early access to content, an exclusive newsletter, and more.
