The New England Patriots have signed wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal, according to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport. The move addresses the Patriots’ need for a top wide receiver and provides a boost to second-year quarterback Drake Maye. Diggs, 31, had a strong season with the Buffalo Bills in 2024 before suffering an ACL injury that ended his first year with the Houston Texans.
The former Minnesota Vikings standout averaged 62 yards per game last season and earned four Pro Bowl selections from 2020 through 2023. Although his time as one of the premier wideouts in the NFL is likely past him, Diggs should still be a valuable asset to the Patriots if he returns healthy. The team has been missing a viable option at receiver for years, with tight end Hunter Henry leading the way with 42 yards per game.
Diggs joins a room that includes Ja’Lynn Polk, Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, Demario Douglas, and Kendrick Bourne, which should provide more promise to the Patriots’ receiving corps. The signing is also part of an eventful offseason for the team, who have added defensive lineman Milton Williams, edge Harold Landry, cornerback Carlton Davis, and center Garrett Bradbury among others.
The Houston Texans, meanwhile, are moving on without Diggs after trading for wide receiver Christian Kirk, which likely closed the door on a potential comeback. With standout Nico Collins leading the way, the Texans will look to bounce back from last season’s struggles.
